Odd Firearms: "Chicago Palm Pistol"

The "Chicago Palm Pistol" is an example of a BUG (Back Up Gun) from a previous century.

The Chicago Palm Pistol, aka Minneapolis Protector Palm Pistol, is an ingenious little BUG, patented circa 1883. A second, improved version came out in 1892. Like many BUGs, it's chambered for an anemic round. In this case, the 32 Rimfire Extra Short. I can only imagine that this is a severely weakened .32 round. But any firearm I guess is better than none.

Times and technology change, but the needs of the people, and their ingenuity in meeting these needs, remains constant.
